The official weigh in....

Alright, here we go....52 pounds in 52 weeks.  Since this is the first full week of 2010, I decided to begin implementing everything today.  I guess I took the first three days as a buffer to enjoy my last intentional splurges and mentally prepare for the year.

I have not taken any measurements as of yet, but my official weigh in on January 1, 2010 was 259.8 lbs. meaning that my goal to reach at the end of the year is a minimum of 207.8 lbs.

So for those of you who are joining me and for those who are coming along for encouragement, in the past, what have you found to be helpful in losing weight, toning, training, etc.?  I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.

  1. Started P90X today. Wasn't fun. But, I did it, and I guess that's all that matters. ;)

  2. Awesome! I am going to start the P90 tonight. Did a walk today during lunch. I guess burn calories wherever you can, right?

  3. One thing that seems to work a little for me is drinking more water. I keep a favorite cup or water bottle right in front of me at work and try to drink as much as possible. Yea I have to go a lot more, but it decreases how empty my stomach feels for more of the day.

  4. Okay. So I weigh 166 and my goal is to loose the last 30 pounds of baby weight before we get blessed with another little one. So here's to hoping... When I have lost considerable amounts of weight in the past I have done a number of things that I need to start doing again, so keep me accountable:
    1. Work out HARD for at least an hour. I mean getting my heart rate up above 140 and sweating/grunting it out. I tend to like workouts that are fun like spin class, ball workouts or playing basketball with Josh. I also have P90X and might look at that as an option. I just know you need at least 3 good workouts week.
    2. I always park far away and walk. This stopped when I was big as a house.
    3. I also drink lots of water. it does fill you up and you can save your calories for "real" food.
    4. For me, counting calories and fat grams gets to be too much. So I just do what I can easily figure out: smaller portions and less sugary snacks. Paired with work outs, this tends to be good enough.

  5. "Do your best. Forget the rest." Was that the one you were trying to remember? :)

  8. How's it going, Brian? Noticing a difference after the first week and a half? The X is kicking my butt, but I am seeing fast results in my muscle tone. It's crazy! I think I am going to cancel my gym membership. I am in better shape after a week of P90X than I was for 5 years going to the gym (ok, a little exaggeration, but the results are definitely quicker than the gym). And I don't have to worry about the kids catching colds from the gym child care! ;)

Update us on your results so far. Enquiring minds and all that ...
